Established in the academic year 2004–2005, Rajiv Gandhi College of Education is a co-educational B.Ed institution governed by the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Educational Trust (R.). The college operates under the management of the Scheduled Caste (SC) community and is committed to providing quality teacher education and promoting inclusive academic growth.

The college is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) under Order No. F.SRO/N.C.T.E/B.Ed/2004-05/7217, with the Institution Code: APSO2062. It is also affiliated with Kuvempu University, Shankaraghatta, Shivamogga District, and has received the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Government of Karnataka.

The institution is housed in a spacious and well-planned building covering a total area of 22,000 square meters, providing a conducive environment for academic and professional growth.

As per NCTE norms, the college has maintained financial security deposits in the form of Fixed Deposit Receipts (FDRs) and Reserve Fund Bonds amounting to ?12 lakhs. These deposits are held jointly in the name of the Chairman of the Trust and the Regional Director, NCTE (Bangalore), and are maintained through Syndicate Bank, Bhadravathi.
